BUDGET CONCEALERS ON TRIAL...

Two of my biggest skin concerns are my HORRENDOUS black under eye circles and spot scarring which is mainly around my chin. After my 'Budget Primers On Trial' post went down so well I thought it would be a good idea to do a concealer one too, especially after looking through my blogging box and realising I'd collected quite the little stash of concealers over the past few months #oops

Soap & Glory Kick Ass 'Blur & Brighten' Concealer Crayon £6 - I was really impressed with how creamy this was after swatching it and it looked like a perfect match for my pale skin tone so I couldn't resist adding it to my basket. I loved the idea of a crayon concealer as I thought it would be really easy to quickly dab around my face in all the places I need coverage and I've found that this works best at concealing spots/scars and redness as it isn't *quite* heavy duty enough for my awful under eye circles. Unfortunately I don't find this the easiest product to blend as it kind of feels like you're just moving it around the skin rather than actually blending it in. I also find it becomes a little visible on the skin throughout the day and gets that almost crumbly texture, so this isn't one that I'd buy again and I also think it's price tag is quite high for what it actually does.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer £5.49 - I've mentioned how much I love this concealer in a couple of blog posts already, but after comparing it to these other ones I've just realised even more how completely awesome this is! What I love most about this is that it works really well at both brightening my dark circles and also disguising my redness and spot scars as it gives amazing coverage and it lasts all day without creasing *miracle worker or what* It's such a bargain and because it's a wand applicator it seems to last for ages, so even though I use it every single day I probably only have to replace it a couple of times throughout the year. You can also see me raving about it here and here :)

Miss Sporty Perfect Stay Liquid Concealer £2.99 - I picked this up after seeing Lucy and Lydia raving about it (I'm so obsessed with their videos atm!) and it's a good 'all-rounder' kind of concealer with a complete bargain price tag. It works well on both blemishes and under eye circles as it gives a reasonable amount of coverage whilst being super easy to apply and blend thanks to it's creamy formula. I don't find the staying power as good as my trusty Rimmel Wake Me Up though, but if you're on a tight budget this is definitely a decent one to go for :)

Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer £4.99 - This is a peach toned concealer designed to highlight underneath the eyes, but to be honest I just don't find it heavy duty enough for my dark circles. I will admit they are pretty bad from when I suffered really badly for a couple of years with insomnia, so if yours aren't *too* bad then this one might be ok for you. It's a lovely, creamy formula which is very easy to blend, but I absolutely hate these brush style concealers which you have to twist up or squeeze to get the product out *shudders* I just find them too much effort (not to sound super lazy or anything, but ain't no one got time for that when you're in a rush in the morning!) and the lid ends up super messy too :( To be honest I don't think this is worth it's price tag and I'd 100% recommend paying the extra 50p for my beloved Rimmel Wake Me Up instead.

Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer £5.99 - I bought this after seeing Tanya Burr and Alix from I Covet Thee raving about it and whilst I've been enjoying trying it out over the past couple of weeks, I just don't love it as much as Rimmel Wake Me Up. You'll have guessed from what I was saying above that I just don't get on with the packaging/brush thing at all (why you have to be so darn messy?!) and bearing in mind it's 50p more expensive than Wake Me Up, I swear you actually get a lot less product as I've not even been using this for a month yet and it feels like it's nearly all gone already! I really do love the coverage that it gives, but it's no better than Wake Me Up so for the sake of saving 50p and having a much nicer wand applicator, I'd definitely recommend Wake Me Up over this. Maybe I should have titled this post 'why I'm fan girling over the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer' instead?!

I'd love to hear what you think of these concealers and if you have any recommendations for me to try :)

  1. I use both the Rimmel Wake Me Up and Match Perfection concealers, but the Wake Me Up is my favourite of all time! I even thought I'd try and move onto something high end and bought the Double Wear Concealer from Estee Lauder and I absolutely hate it, so I think I'll be sticking to the WMU for quite a while yet!

Love this idea, can't wait to see the next one.. maybe mascara?

I really want to try the MissSporty one, I've heard quite a good things about it and it's so affordable too!!!xx

    1. It's amazing isn't it :) Ooo I want to try the Bourjois one too, it's always out of stock in my local Boots and Superdrug though which is so annoying but I suppose it's a good sign that it's really good!

  4. What a great idea for a post! I don't really adventure out that much with my concealers and have been wanting to expand my collection for a while now. I've had my eye on Rimmel's Wake Me Up Concealer and You have pretty much just won me over with it haha! I will certainly most give this Concealer a go :)

  6. You've reminded to re buy Rimmel wake me up - I used to love it. I'm not a huge fan of the Rimmel Match perfection concealer either. My current favourite drugstore concealer is the Seventeen skin Wow concealer - its brilliant xx

  8. I recently also tried out the Miss Sporty concealer and I'm completely blown away but it for such a tiny price tag! I find it can be a bit orangey so less tends to be more, but it does a good job at tackling my under eye circles and my spots and discolouration! I've heard loads of good things about the Rimmel concealer and picked it up in February, but at the moment it's just kinda 'ok' for me. I thought it would work better for my under-eyes than it does which is quite disappointing! I totally agree about the Collection concealer, it really didn't pack enough of a punch for me either, sadly. I wanted to like it! Have you tried Maybelline's The Eraser? That's a lovely one for under the eyes. I recently picked up Pixi's peach colour corrector as well which works amazingly. It's pricier, obviously, but it does the job! I got mine on Beauty Bay!

    1. The Miss Sporty one really is good for the price isn't it :) How do you find the staying power? That was the only thing that put me off of it a little bit, but for the price I really can't complain! I have tried the maybelline one before and keep meaning to re-purchase it, but I think it's a tiny bit too dark for my skin :( Ooo I've heard really good things about that, I'm desperate to give some Pixi products a try!
