A COUPLE OF NEW FASHION PURCHASES FOR SPRING/SUMMER

When I had my big sort out and organise in my wardrobe a couple of weeks ago (I wrote a post about it here), I promised myself that I'd stop buying unnecessary clothing items and just fill the gaps in my wardrobe. I'm a big lover of pretty clothes so it's far too easy for me to get very tempted every time I see something I like #shopaholicproblems, but I've come to realise what a bad (and expensive!) habit that actually is and for possibly the first time in my life I'm really happy and comfortable with the clothes I already have, so unless I can really justify why I need something I can't have it, and my oh my it feels pretty darn fabulous. There were just a couple of staple items really missing from my wardrobe though, so of course I had to rectify that...
Dorothy Perkins Monochrome Clutch bag
Dorothy Perkins Clutch Bag £15
As a chronically ill gal my social invitations are pretty limited, so I haven't had or needed a clutch bag for about five years. I usually just use my everyday handbag when we go out for dinner or to the cinema in the evening, but I'm going to a wedding reception next Saturday which has finally given me the excuse to get something a little more fancy (and I've actually used it two times already too!) I fell in love with this bag as soon as I saw it (Dorothy Perkins have really been knocking it out of the park with their handbags recently!) and I figured you can't go wrong with a monochrome clutch as it'll go with everything, so I'll hopefully be able to get a fair bit of use from it. I love the gold detail as I think it makes the bag look really classy, I just don't think you can beat simple detailing on handbags! It has a thin gold chain so you can wear it on the shoulder too (I couldn't get it to look right in the photo which is why I haven't shown it) which is super useful as it can get a bit annoying having to hold a clutch bag the whole night. You'll be seeing this in action next week as I'm going to do an outfit post on what I wear to the wedding reception so keep an eye out for that :)
Dorothy Perkins Mid Wash 'Harper' Skinny Roll Up Jeans: £26
Believe it or not up until last year I wasn't a jeans person at all (I went several years without owning a single pair!) which is kind of crazy as I now basically live in them. I've always preferred black skinnies to actual denim jeans but I've reached that stage where I need to mix the black up a bit I end up looking like I don't wash, so I was on the hunt for a pair of midwash denim jeans that I could easily style with black accessories and minimal colour. I had a picture of what I wanted in my head but couldn't seem to find them anywhere as everything was either too dark or too light, and then one Saturday evening I was innocently browsing the Dorothy Perkins website just 'window shopping' *famous last words* and I spotted these little beauties cue major heart palpitations. I love the little distressed denim details on them and the washed denim fabric reminds me a lot of Levi's, plus the turn ups make them perfect for the summer. They are the softest, comfiest denim ever (I keep making people stroke my leg every time I wear them to show them how soft they are!) and they fit like a glove too; I can't get enough of them :)
George @ Asda Sandals £12
I feel like I've been waiting my whole life for these sandals; as soon as I saw them I knew they were the one - I love how simple they are and I think they have quite a Zara/COS feel to them (or I try to convince myself they do anyway!) The gold detailing on them makes them absolutely perfect as so often black sandals come with silver buckles which is super annoying as I only wear gold jewellery and accessories and I can't stand mixing gold and silver in an outfit *shudders* They're the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn as well; I could happily wear them all day long and they haven't rubbed me once :) #shoemiracle
H&M Gold Bar Necklaces £3(ish) Each
I'm a bit hopeless when it comes to jewellery and more often than not I forget to wear anything other than my watch, but after watching Lily Pebbles Every Day May Vlogs and majorly lusting after her pretty jewellery, I thought it was time to get myself some new bits. I really love H&M jewellery and could have bought basically the whole department, but these little necklaces really caught my eye as they're very simple but are just eye-catching enough and I love wearing them layered together.

Now if I can just keep my shopaholic tendencies at bay me and my purse strings will be extremely happy sausages indeed...I'll let you know how I get on ;)

  3. I need to calm down with my shopping habit too! It's a good idea to just focus on what's actually needed cause I often end up with lots of the same type of clothes!! Love the sandals and I'm actually in need of a new clutch bag and love yours. It'd go with a lot of outfits :)
